Embassy Commits Itself to Zimbabwean Literature

___________________ By Beaven Tapureta ____________________ The Cultural Centre of the Embassy of Spain, inaugurated in February last year, will establish a book club to offer relief to Harare writers and readers through regular book readings and discussions. The initial club meeting to determine logistics, including frequency of meetings and types of books to read, will take place on March 6, 2012 at the Embassy of Spain. Marina Garcia Sanchez, the Embassy’s Cultural Attaché, said the book club has been an initiative of the Deputy Head of Mission at Embassy of Spain Ms. Victoria Tur and Mrs. Lisa Maria Burgess Noudehou, a writer and literature scholar. Her work ranges from the political to the domestic – her pieces provide both warmth and fire for the reader. On February 14, CRC is hosting a BHM poetry reading featuring VS Chochezi, Terry Moore, and Milton Bowens. I look forward to this event, which takes place just a day after another BHM event at the Sacramento Poetry, in which Terry Moore and VS Chochezi be some of the features. The CRC reading will take place in the Recital Hall from 12:00 to 1:20 PM. V.S. Chochezi has resided in Sacramento for more than 20 years. For most of that time she has shared poetry and spoken word at countless venues including colleges and universities, K-12 educational centers, festivals and poetry features.
