OUR LIFE STORIES, a cross-generational writers’ conference at Cosumnes River College will feature nationally-recognized writers Jennifer Basye Sander and Todd Walton on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Cosumnes River College.

Jennifer Basye Sander and Todd Walton will serve as keynote speakers for the fifth anniversary “Our Life Stories” writers’ conference Saturday, April 28 at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento. The conference will focus on memoir writing. All aspiring writers are welcome. The conference includes lectures by Sander and Walton and several workshops moderated by celebrated authors from the Sacramento region, including non-fiction writers David Weinshilboum, Kerstin Feindert, and Kakwasi Somadhi, poets Kathryn Hohlwein, Susan Kelly-DeWitt and Emmanuel Siguake, and storyteller Valerie Fiorvanti. The all-day event, sponsored by the Hart Senior Center and CRC, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The conference fee of $35 covers the workshops, materials and lunch. Additional information on Jennifer Basye Sander

Jennifer Basye Sander creates books that sell. In her twenty plus years in the publishing business her ideas have generated more than forty million dollars in retail sales. A long-time book packager and a former Random house senior editor, she has personally developed and launched more than 75 titles. The book she co-authored with agent Sheree Bykofsky, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Getting Published, is now in its fifth revised edition.

Todd Walton’s novel Inside Moves, was made into a major motion picture in 1980. He has published seven works of fiction including Forgotten Impulses and Ruby & Spear. His non-fiction books are The Writer’s Path, a collection of original writing exercises, and Open Body: Creating Your Own Yoga. His books Buddha In A Teacup (2009) and Under the Table Books (2010), each won the Bay Area Independent Publishers Award for best book in those years, and each won National Indie Excellence Awards for Best Fiction in those years. Fifth Anniversary Celebration

To celebrate the fifth anniversary of Our Life Stories, join us for a special reading and reception on Friday, April 27, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Hart Senior Center, 915 – 27th St. Hear a selection of conference faculty reading from their own work and enjoy refreshments and conversation with other conference participants.
